Rethinking Airbnb: Why I Don’t Use The Platform As Much In 2026
When Airbnb launched as airbedandbreakfast.com in 2008, it was a fun way to stay in the spare room of other people’s homes while paying less than a hotel.
When You Learn, Teach. When You Get, Give. – Maya Angelou
Since my first trip abroad to Vietnam when I was 20, I’ve been learning everything about traveling one flight at time. Tips, tricks, hacks, mistakes. They’re all a part of it. Most I learned from experiencing, some I learned from experts and those who came before me. And some from my fellow travelers. I learned how to travel for cheap. And then cheaper. I learned how to save time planning. Or not plan at all.
This is where I’m trying to do my part to give back and try to inspire a few of you to get out and plan that dream trip you’ve always wanted to do. You never stop learning. This is why I’m still in love with traveling after all these years. Everyday is a chance to encounter something new and experience something different. The world is just so big and it’s always changing. I’m doing my part to just ride this wave.

If you are a true foodie traveling to Japan, you know the best food experiences are rarely found on TikTok. Leave those long lines for the masses.
Aomori was only supposed to be a short stop at the end of winter adventure in Hokkaido where I’d catch my flight back to Tokyo.
For me, the Tsugaru Railways train near Aomori, Japan, is one of those beautiful relics of a bygone era whose continued operation is something any traveler can appreciate.
For me, the defining draw of Seville is the confluence of cultures over its vibrant history creating a unique culinary scene within Spain, and an architectural style that draws from both the European and Arab world.
From my personal journal. I went to a flamenco show tonight by the river in a small bar with enough seats for maybe 20 people.
Andalusia, for me, will always be that border world between Europe and North Africa with its unmistaken convergence of two distinct cultures that has transformed into something of its own.
Whenever I’m in a major European city, I look for the best versions of their national dishes. In the city of Vienna, it was the weiner schnitzel everyone talks about.
From my personal journal. In Sevilla, I feel a dusting of magic in the air that’s only present in the Andalusia region of Spain.
